New Year, New Me… A Little Late?

It’s never too late to start a resolution is it?

Oh boy, I don’t look too hot! Ha! Time to get back at it.

I never ever start New Year’s Resolutions, mainly because I never stick to them. Plus, I’m not trying to get into the gym with all the other resolutioners lookin’ all crazy.

I moved to North Carolina about one year ago and have really “let myself go” as far as eating right and exercising. Somehow I have ballooned up to the highest weight I have ever weighed, and I am no longer okay with it.

When I first moved here I was doing pretty good with my eating and my exercising. In fact, I looked pretty good! As I got comfortable though, I started cheating with my favorite indulgences… IPAs, wines, fast foods, burgers and of course I stopped running and working out. 🙁

I don’t regret it, it was fun! But now it’s time to buckle down. I’m going to blog about my experiences, what works for me and what doesn’t. I’m not following a strict workout plan or diet, just seeing what I can do one day at a time. I think blogging about my journey will keep me accountable.

Time for me to start!

For the past couple of weeks I started eating a little bit better, but still TOTALLY cheating on the weekends cancelling everything out.

I did start doing a couple of outdoor walks a couple of times a week, sometimes twice a day.

Today I decided to stop being lazy. I got out of my bed and I completed my first outdoor run in about a year. It wasn’t the best run I had ever completed, but I got almost 3 miles done.

Starting weight: 210 lbs.

My next blog post will be about apps I am using to help me keep track of my exercise and food/water intake. What has worked for you? Do you have any suggestions for me? Please let me know in the comments below or hit me up on social media.

Stay up to date with my blog and see what I am up to… plus maybe get or share a tip or two along the way!

  1. My fitness pal app is amazing to use. You look good for being 210 though! I need to get back on track myself too. I am 163lbs and only 5’1 and should be about 110lbs.
So after having kids and then relying on food to cope with stress it’s taken a toll on me.

    1. Hey Nikki!

I used to LOVE MyFitnessPal. I need to get back into it., I have been lazy in the past with logging my food and exercise though. I need to get better at that.

I know what relying on food to cope with stress is like – not so much the kids thing though, haha. Good luck to you! Thanks for the suggestion.

  2. Stick to it, man! I’m in a similar place. At my highest weight ever and sick of it. (Not to mention WAY closer to 300 than I ever thought I’d be.) I keep trying to remind myself that while it’s not easy, it’s also not complicated. I just have to make myself do it.

    1. I know what you mean! Part of my problem is just taking the time. The couch is comfortable (sorta, I need a new one, lol.) I also love being social and I feel like after work, I get off around 11, the last thing I want to do is go workout. I’d rather spend time with any of my friends that are still awake… or watch TV…

      Hopefully I can stay accountable!

      1. Good luck to you! I know what it’s like seeing a number on the scale… once I hit 200 I was like YO gotta do something! Now I’m at 210 and I don’t want to exceed that.
