Daylight saving time ended this weekend. Now it's dark by dinnertime and your couch knows it's got you.
Lucky for us, the streaming services showed up this week. We've got a boxing legend, an Owen Wilson golf comeback, a stylish spy thriller, a mustache-heavy comedy sequel and a movie with "Carolina" right in the title.
Grab a blanket and your remote. Here's this week's Binge List.
1. The Greatest (Prime Video, Wednesday, Nov. 4)
This one is the big swing of the week. The Greatest is a limited series about Muhammad Ali, with Jaalen Best playing Cassius Clay and, later, Ali himself.
Ali's widow, Lonnie Ali, is an executive producer, and Prime Video bills it as the first authorized scripted series about his life. Omari Hardwick, Michael Ealy and Amin Joseph are in the cast too.
Best of all for bingers, all eight episodes drop at once. Float like a butterfly, sit like a couch potato.
2. Stick, Season 2 (Apple TV, Wednesday, Nov. 4)
Owen Wilson is back as Pryce Cahill, the washed-up former pro golfer. In Season 2 he's chasing a comeback and wants to become the oldest golfer ever to win the U.S. Open.
Rhea Seehorn (Better Call Saul) joins as Pryce's new coach, Amanda, and Marc Maron is back as his caddie. Apple is releasing two episodes on premiere day, then one each Wednesday through Dec. 30.
For a region with this many golf courses, that's basically required viewing.
3. All's Fair, Season 2 (Hulu, Wednesday, Nov. 4)
Kim Kardashian's glossy legal drama is back, and the first three episodes land Wednesday.
The cast is stacked: Naomi Watts, Niecy Nash-Betts, Teyana Taylor, Sarah Paulson and Glenn Close. Whatever you think of the show, that lineup is a serious flex.
4. Black Doves, Season 2 (Netflix, Thursday, Nov. 5)
Keira Knightley returns as Helen Webb, the spy who leads a double life. Ben Whishaw is back as her hitman best friend, Sam.
This season Helen's husband, Wallace, is getting ready to become Prime Minister. That makes keeping her secret job a secret a whole lot harder. Netflix is dropping all six episodes at once, so clear your Thursday night.
5. Super Troopers 3 (Hulu, Thursday, Nov. 5)
Meow, the Broken Lizard crew is back. After hitting theaters this summer, Super Troopers 3 starts streaming on Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ this week.
The setup: Farva gets engaged to Thorny's sister, and Thorny tries everything to break them up. Brian Cox returns as Captain O'Hagan, and Lynda Carter is in the cast too.
The first two movies are already on Hulu, so you can do the full trilogy in one night. Syrup chugging is optional.
6. Carolina Caroline (Netflix, Friday, Nov. 6)
We have to include a movie with our name in the title. Samara Weaving and Kyle Gallner star in this R-rated lovers-on-the-run thriller.
Weaving plays a young woman stuck in a small Texas town who falls for a smooth-talking con man. They take off across the Southeast while she looks for the mother who walked out on her.
Critics liked it a lot, too. It holds a 90% score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Bonus: Holiday Baking Championship, Season 13
Yes, the holiday stuff is here, ready or not. Food Network's Holiday Baking Championship starts its 13th season Monday night, Nov. 2, and hits HBO Max the next day.
Watching other people make gingerbread counts as getting into the holiday spirit. We're making the rules now.
Austin's Take
If I had to pick one for the weekend, it's The Greatest. Ali was so much bigger than boxing, and having his family involved makes this feel like it could be the real deal instead of just highlight reels with actors.
But I'll be honest, Super Troopers 3 is the one I'm most curious about. Comedy sequels 25 years later can go either way, and I'm rooting for the guys in the mustaches.
So what's first on your list this week, the champ, the spies or the troopers? Let me know in the comments!
